Eat the bird (voted Exeter’s Best Restaurant in 2022) are next door to our workshop on Sidwell Street. They commissioned us to make some dividers for their outdoor seating area. The brief was to make a structure that could double as an outdoor bar, it had to be branded with their logo, made with a steel frame and with storage in the back for menu’s and cutlery.

The steel frame for these dividers was welded out of reclaimed box section and the Eat the Bird logo was engraved into the wood by hand using a router. The whole thing has been treated with yacht varnish as it is outside the restaurant all year round.

”I first heard about Co Create by searching for woodworking in Exeter. A simple google search has opened up a completely new world. I have been able to learn a whole host of new skills from woodworking to jewellery making to leather work. Most importantly I found a sense of community and have been able to improve my confidence and self-esteem. I am now delivering workshops myself! Something that a couple of years ago would have been completely impossible for me. I’ve enjoyed creating a calm and safe space for people to learn and relax. Through Co Create I have been able to find passion and new purpose and by volunteering I hope I can help do the same for others.”

On Friday 8th December, we’re hosting our first ever Co Create Celebration! You are invited to join us for an evening of celebrating all that has happened this year at Co Create, as well as hearing from John Marker who will be sharing some vision and updates for the future.

The evening will also include some Christmas nibbles along with non-alcoholic mulled fruit punch!
